Why Proactive Maintenance Is the Future of Hospitality Ops

Most maintenance problems give a warning before they cause a breakdown

A fridge creeping above temperature, a slow leak behind a panel or a boiler that has started to struggle rarely becomes a problem overnight. These issues build quietly, and in most hotels nobody notices until something fails or a guest reports it.

AI and connected monitoring are changing that. Sensors can now watch equipment and conditions around the clock and flag issues as they start to develop. The real difference comes from what happens next. When an alert automatically becomes an owned task, it gets fixed before guests are affected, and every step is recorded for compliance.

Join Snapfix, skentel and Watergate Bay Hotel to hear how one hotel group has put this into practice, and what proactive maintenance could mean for your guests, your team and your compliance record.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

  • What proactive maintenance looks like day to day, and how it compares with working to a fixed inspection schedule
  • Why the gap between detecting an issue and acting on it is where most of the guest impact happens, and how to close it
  • How catching problems early reduces emergency repairs and helps equipment last longer
  • How an automatic audit trail makes food safety, pool and fire safety compliance easier to prove
  • How the group behind Watergate Bay Hotel runs skentel and Snapfix together across its properties

Speakers.

Lisa Bell

Group Facilities Manager, Watergate Bay Hotel, Another Place Hotels and SeaSpace Hotels

Lisa is Group Facilities Manager for Watergate Bay Hotel, Another Place Hotels and SeaSpace Hotels, overseeing hard and soft FM and statutory compliance across the group's portfolio.

The group's hotels have long embraced innovation and have grown into thriving year-round destinations. The group has a longstanding relationship with skentel and brought Snapfix on board earlier this year. Because the two systems are integrated, sensor alerts are automatically turned into maintenance tasks, which frees staff to spend more of their time with guests.

In this session, Lisa will share how the integration works in practice at SeaSpace. She'll cover what it has meant day to day for the maintenance and operations teams, from a building management, maintenance and health and safety perspective.

Rob Cartwright

Founder and MD at skentel

Rob founded skentel in 2009. The company started out designing Building Management Systems, and Rob soon recognised how much remote monitoring could change the way organisations manage their assets.

By replacing occasional physical checks with continuous live data, skentel saves businesses time. It also gives them the insight they need to reduce waste, make savings and deal with maintenance needs before they become disruptive breakdowns.

In this session, Rob will share how skentel's remote monitoring and its integration with Snapfix help hospitality businesses become more proactive. He'll explain how the workflow runs from data and alerts all the way through to completed maintenance tasks.

Brett Robbins

CEO at Snapfix

Brett Robbins has spent the last coupe of years working closely with hotel operators to understand where things break down in day-to-day operations, and what it actually takes to fix them. As CEO of Snapfix, he's seen firsthand how the gap between a guest expectation and a team's ability to deliver it is almost always an operational problem.

Brett will share what he's learned from hotels that are getting this right, and where most properties still have room to close the loop.

Snapfix is just stupid simple. Red, yellow, green and that's it. Everybody's got a driver's license, so everybody already knows what that means. It's a big part of why adoption across every department has been so fast; and with the photos, the system doesn't care what language your team speaks, and that’s so important in hospitality.

"It didn't take more than half a day to configure Snapfix to our liking. The team was quick to help, but honestly, we could have done it ourselves. It was that easy."
